What is Blue Light?

Long Term Computer Use 640.jpg

Whether you spend a significant amount of your day on a computer, tablet or smartphone, the blue light that is emitted from these devices may be harming your vision and putting you at risk for developing serious eye diseases later in life.

Blue light emissions create a glare on the screen that can affect the visual contrast and clarity of the image or text you are looking at.

As a result, your eyes need to work harder to see clearly. This can lead to eye strain, blurry vision, dry eyes, headaches, and fatigue.

Since blue light emissions can also damage the retina’s light sensitive cells (photoreceptors), prolonged exposure can also increase your risk of developing serious eye diseases in the future.

Computer glasses are designed to mitigate the negative effects of blue light.

These specialized lenses filter out blue light to protect your eyes from glare—making it easier for you to see the screen clearly without the eye strain.

Blue light blocking lenses can also protect your retina from potential damage and may therefore reduce your risk of serious diseases in the future.

If you spend a significant amount of time staring at a screen, you may want to consider purchasing computer glasses or blue light filters for your lenses.

These glasses are available with or without a prescription and are compatible with contact lenses as well.
